Eataly – The Most Magical Place in the Big City

Ah yes, Eataly; my new favorite place and the reason I wake up in the morning when I’m traveling to the big cities.

I learned about Eataly from my beautiful and lovely co-worker when we were staying in Boston a few weeks ago. Since then, I’ve been been four times which is perfectly reasonable as long as you don’t spend too much time thinking about it.

Eataly is this magical place with locations in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, and New York, where you can shop from local vendors or enjoy a variety of italian cuisine from various restaurants within.

Roasted Chicken, Potatoes, and Brussel Sprouts

The first time I visited Eataly was in Boston and I wasn’t nearly as impressed as the following times. It was no fault of their own; I was trying to stay on my decently healthy diet and hold out on the junk food until I got to New York, so I ordered roasted chicken and brussel sprouts. Although they were as delicious as chicken and brussel sprouts can possible be, it didn’t quite hit the spot like a good pasta would have, because let’s be real, no one ever craves brussel sprouts.

Makeshift Chopsticks to Eat Tiramisu

The second time, I went threw my inhibitions out the window and ordered the most delicious tiramisu of my entire life. Little did I know that I’d be ordering this two more times in the next week.

Unfortunately, the Boston Sheraton didn’t provide utensils in the room and Lord knows I wasn’t about to wait around for someone to bring them up, so I made do with some makeshift chopsticks I crafted together using some coffee stirrers. You may call me MacGyver from this point forward.

A few days later, I stumbled across another Eataly as I was wandering the streets of New York City. Obviously, I had to pop in. Why experience something new and unique when I visit something I’ve already had twice in one week?

Although it was Valentine’s Day, I managed to squeeze myself into La Pizza & La Pasta without a reservation, and boy oh boy what a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner it was.

Wanting to try everything, I ordered the most delicious sausage pizza with a perfectly flaky crust, a perfectly cooked butternut squash ravioli and finished the night off with my favorite tiramisu and a canoli on the way out.

The final time I had the pleasure of visiting Eataly was on one of my last nights in New York. I had just come home from Bev Francis Powerhouse Gym all the way in Long Island, a 7 hour ordeal in and of itself, and was too exhausted to try to find something new and exciting.

As I returned to my new favorite place, I was disappointed to find out about the 45 minute wait at La Pizza & La Pasta, and wound up at Manzo, where I began our dinner with an appetizer of fresh mozzarella.

Next up was a bone-in New York strip steak, a 20oz Steak from Diamond Creek Ranch, cooked perfectly to medium rare. It had a flavorful, crispy exterior which perfectly preserved the juicy center.

I had the Linguine e Aragosta, which was a mouth-watering combination of afeltra linguine, Maine lobster, saffron butter, and mutti tomato. Although this was tasty, seafood pasta is rarely life-changing, and I much preferred the tasty steak.

I finished the evening with an order of Zeppole, which was a ricotta fried dough accompanied by a lemon mascarpone sauce. Yes, this was the best fried dough I’ve ever had, and yes, I’m desperately searching for a good lemon mascarpone recipe, so if you have one, leave please leave a comment down below!

Now, I’m not really a “moderation is best” kind of girl, so I did pair the Zeppole with Manzo’s decadent take on tiramisu (coffee-soaked, handmade lady fingers in mascarpone cream). This tiramisu was unique because of the chocolate wafers that decorated the top of the dessert. 10/10 would order every day for the rest of my life.

As this was the last time visiting Eataly for awhile since I despise driving up to LA, I made sure to take my time looking around on the way out. If you’re an italian food lover like I am, I highly highly recommend you check out Eataly if you’re ever fortunate enough to be near one. And of course, be sure to pick up a tiramisu for me on the way out.
