Sephora Spring Sale 2019 Haul

Does anyone else out there lose all semblance of will power during the Sephora VIB sales? No? Just me? Okay.

I’m more of an Ulta girl, myself, but Sephora just has so many beautiful brands that I just can’t seem to live without. So when the elusive 20% comes around, I just run wild like a teenager who stole daddy’s black card.

Now before we move any further, let me be perfectly clear: neither my daddy nor myself have a black card and my bank account will be giving me the silent treatment for the foreseeable future. The phrase “go big or go home” was not made popular during these sales. Pace yourself, darling, there will be another sale in the fall.

That being said, I bought a bunch of stuff.

During these sales I like to purchase backups for my everyday products like the Anastasia Brow Wiz, my holy grail hyaluronic acid from the Ordinary, and my daily moisturizers. I also spring for high ticket items and products that I’ve been meaning to try.

So without further adieu, let’s get right into it shall we?

Favorites & Repurchases

With my priciest purchase of the sale coming in at $112, I picked up my very first full size jar of the Algenist GENIUS Ultimate Anti-Aging Cream. I’ve written about my favorite moisturizers in the past and while I still love those and use them regularly, this one has quickly shot to the top of my list. First of all, it smells like cookies. Color me SOLD, amiright?  But it’s also the most plumping and firming moisturizer I’ve ever used – like to the point where I’m not sure I even really knew what plump skin looked like before this. If you can swing it, I highly HIGHLY recommend picking up one of these bad boys. You’ll see results after just a few regular uses.

I purchased a backup of the cheapest ($36) Drunk Elephant product I use. Funny enough, it’s also my favorite Drunk Elephant product and the one I use the most often by far. If you’re looking to up your SPF game, be sure to try out the Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte™ Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30. It’s tinted and gorgeous and protects your beautiful face from the mean guy in the sky. I mix mine in with my morning moisturizer – works like a charm.

The Sephora #Lipstories Collection is one of my all time favorite formulas. They are some the creamiest, most pigmented lipsticks and come in 3 beautiful finishes and more than 40 unique shades. And at only $8 a pop, you really can’t go too wrong. During the sale, I picked up the shades 30: Matinee, 25: First Class, and 3: Sephora Loves NY.

Has anyone else been really feeling the whole lipliner with some lip gloss vibe lately? If so, the Sephora Rouge Gel Lip Liners are a great add to your collection, and only $12 each. Clearly, I have some color preferences, but don’t worry, this line spans the rainbow. They’re a retractable gel liner that glide right on and last a good amount of time. Of course, you’re not going to get 24 hour wear like you would with a harder pencil, but your lips will thank you. I picked up the shades: 01: The Nudist, 02: Nothin But Nude, 03: Rose Wine, 09: Nectarine, 12: The Red, 22: Mid Day Rose, and 26: A Little Rusty.

Have you seen my blog on the best pop of color for summer? If not, you totally should. And if you haven’t, **spoiler alert** it’s the Milk Makeup Lip Color in the shade Name Drop. I loved that lipstick so much that I splurged on another one in the shade C.R.E.A.M ($24). These are a demi matte formula and last quite a bit longer than the Sephora Lipstories, but at no expense to your lips. They’re formulated with  shea butter, coconut oil, grapeseed oil and mango seed butter to keep your lips soft and kissable all summer long.

New Products

I was excited to grab the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask ($45) from Glow Recipe because I’ve been meaning to try this for ages. I was a little hesitant to test this one because I heard some mild reviews about it breaking people out, but I love the Belif Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask and I figured this was probably a similar product. Will keep you posted!

I love Milk Makeup. They can do no wrong in my opinion. I’ve yet to try a product that I wasn’t head over heels in love with. My all time favorite has to be the Watermelon Brightening Serum which led me to purchase the Milk Makeup Watermelon Brightening Face Mask ($24) during the sale. It’s said to brighten, hydrate, and even skin tones and honey, I am here for it! I don’t typically reach for clay masks too often, but I’m excited to give this one a try.

Another product that I hear about all the time is the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye ($37). I’ve tried this a few times since I purchased it and I don’t see a drastically noticeable difference, but it is nice and creamy which I appreciate and my eyes aren’t exhausted when I wake up.

I know I’m super late to the party with this guy, but I finally picked up the Jouer Powder Highlighter ($24) in the shade Ice. I do enjoy this highlighter, but to be completely honest, I don’t think I’ll ever use powder highlights on their own. I strongly prefer to layer over top of a cream, but the color is to die for. It’s a pearly sheen with a gold flip and I can’t get enough.

I finally understand the Fenty Beauty hype train. I purchased the Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer ($18) in the shades Fu$$y and Fenty Glow during the sale and holy cow are they gorgeous. They are perfectly opaque with just the right amount of glitter and they come in universally flattering shades. I’ve worn these alone for a juicy and hydrated look as well as on top of lip liners to finish off the mug and they look absolutely flawless. Plus, as long as you’re not too heavy handed, they don’t leave your lips feeling overly goopy.

I don’t know why the glossy look is coming back so ferociously, but I also snagged the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick ($28) in the shades Mocha Choco-Lata! and Black Cherry Baby. Initially, I thought I was going to prefer the Fenty glosses, but these are just so much more convenient to take with you and you can’t overapply like you can with the Fenty glosses. They come in gorgeous shades and leave your lips feeling like you’ve just applied a nice thick balm but not too sticky.

I snagged the Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Whipped Body Butter which smells exactly how I’d imagine heaven smells. It’s the thickest, most luxurious creams I’ve ever used. And get this, you actually feel moisturized for a significant period of time after you apply it! I don’t know about you, but there’s nothing more irritating than lotions that smell delicious but dry you out due to the high alcohol content in the perfumes. Try this one – it’s pricey ($39) but you won’t regret it.

Finally, I grabbed the three-pack of Small Slipsilk™ Scrunchies for an astounding $20. I heard about these from Samantha Ravndahl on YouTube and honestly I just want to be her so I bought a pack for myself. Are they nice? Yes, absolutely. Do you need them? No, absolutely not.

All in all, it was a successful sale. I snagged a few personal faves and a some products that I can’t wait to try. I wish you the happiest of Sephora days and hope you find some winners in the sea of chaos. And if you’re looking for reviews then stay tuned, beauty lovers, because your girl is just getting started.
